Kun CBS :n  (urheilu)toimittaja Jamie Samuelsen valkkasi mielestään cooleimmat hahmot telkkarisarjoista kautta aikain, en olisi voinut vähempää olla eri mieltä ykkösestä.

Olen katsonut sarjoja ja elokuvia viisikymmentä vuotta – kyllä – viisikymmentä. Ensimmäinen  telkkari meidän perheeseen tuli kuuskytluvun alussa, vakituisesti sinä vuonna kun pikkuveljeni syntyi. Pikkuveli täyttää juhannuksena viisikymmentä. Voitte siis uskoa että niitä on nähty.  Viimevuosina etenkin kun kaikkien saatavilla ovat vanhojen sarjojen sekä suomessa jotakuinkin näkymättömien sarjojen boksit. On Netflixit ja Viajotkut.  Ja olen leffafriikki, nytkin on kaapissa pelkästään katsomattomia leffoja n. 60.

En voi sietää tositeeveetä. No, paitsi American Idolista on tullut jotakuinkin pakkomielle, jos se nyt tositeeveetä on.  Mutta nää peepeet ja viidakon pikkujulkimut – voi jeesus ja ei kiitos.  Kunnollinen käsikirjoitettu fiktio, näytelmällinen enemmän tai vähemmän hömppä, se on sitä mitä pitää.   No kyllä tästäkin kategoriasta jää ulos päivittäiset saippuat etenkin kotimaiset. Ja poikkeus tietysti löytyy – syystä tai toisesta mennävuosina jäin koukkuun Sunset Beachiin, jota vieläkin kaiholla muistelen. osa sen viehätystä oli ehkä siinä, että se loppui eikä jatkunut loputtomiin.

No niin, mutta siis tuohon cooleimpaan hahmoon kautta aikain.  Työkaveri vinkkasi mulle cmorelta tulleen sarjan Banshee.  No, yksi kausi takana ja tykkäsin.  Mutta vartokaa, coolein tyyppi ei asu Bansheessa.  Netissä Bansheen arvosteluissa viitattiin usein toiseen jenkkisarjaan, kuinka Banhsee on sitä ja tätä mutta tämän toinen vielä enemmän ja paremmin. Alkoi kiinnostaa.  Ostin boxin ihan sokkona ja  -– varmaan tuli kalloon kumpu - niin syvälle se upposi etukautta takaraivoon.   Justified.  JUSTIFIED.

When CBS columnist Jamie Samuelsen appointed the most coolest character of all times  on  the little screen I couldn’t  disagree less.

I’ve been watching tv-shows and movies for 50 years now.  My family got our  first tv-set in the year my little brother was born and he’s got his 50^th birthday on midsummer’s eve.  So believe when I say I’ve seen quite a few. And lately even more, the availability of dvd/bd -boxes of even old series and those not yet (or ever will be) seen here has made it possible.  There are also thousands of them available on internet.  I suppose I am a serious freak on films and tv-series, there are app. sixty dvds unwatched on my shelf as I am writing this.

I can’t stand reality-shows (oh – maybe only American Idol is an exception, I am almost addicted to it, but that’s another story). But these BB’s and i-am-a-celebrity-get-me-out-of here –survivor –typed shows…I just hate them. Properly written and directed fiction is my cup of tea, no matter how far it goes from reality, as far as it is scripted and acted with some respect for the audience. (I do not usually count daytime soaps to this properly made category, but there’s also an exception which a mystery even to myself – couple ten years ago I watched every bloody episode of Sunset Beach and was very disappointed when it ended).

Well, the coolest character ever on tv-series – the one and only; US Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens. a co-worker told me about a new show which was on canal Cmore, Banshee.  Hold your horses, the coolest guy is not a habitant of small town Banshee. As I fell in love with that seriously-not-a-prime-time show I went through reviews on internet and constantly bumped into references to another show, Banshee’s dos and do-nots were compared  to far better and wittier show.  I got curious and bought the box of 1^st series – I thought there’s still a bump in the back of my head as it hit me so deep and hard – I fell in love. Justified.
