But anyway, Back to Harlan.
Kaikkien sarja/western sääntöjen mukaisesti romanssi eksän kanssa lämpenee ykkös/kakkos kauden edetessä, selvää on että Winona on yksinäisen ratsastajan the one and only true love. Hellät hetket on (kyyniselle) romantikolle sydäntälämmittäviä katsella. Ookei, sitten tulee tämän hiukan odottamaton (spoileri tulossa!) rikossarjan käänne, raskaus . No niin, sitten aletaankin ottaa etäisyyttä.
Daa-a !
Siis Daa-a !
(What Would Elmore Do?)

Okay, back to Harlan. There are reasons, which are very clear even to myself, which have kept me in eastern Kentucky very tightly for couple of weeks now . Daily routines are quite poorly taken care of nowadays, but thanks to a 31’s A-Ford (straight from Michigan)my husband has not noticed the lacks in housekeeping.
Justified. Four seasons and over 50 episodes in two weeks. The only way to watch a show is to watch at least 4-5 episodes at a time. This way you get sucked into it, the place and time and athmosphere. Reality fades to the backroud and all the shitty things like dishes and laundry and other unwelcome crab with it . Coming back might be hard, but who cares ?
I tried to watch and get hooked with Haven (you know, Stephen King is mentioned in opening credits). But after five episodes I was just bored, why and for who was this show made? Clearly not for me even though it locates itself somewhere between Harper’s Island and Fringe (not a fan of either of them). Just Boring. Well, Back to Harlan.
I have totally fell in love with Raylan. Is there a woman who is not ? Justin Samulesen mentioned in his article (Coolest characters on TV-shows) that his friend watches Justified with his wife and that there’s no doubt his wife would run away with Raylan Givens without explanations if possible. And so would he.
As I am a woman and a cynic romantic, the way the romance evolves between Rylan and Winona bugs me. Maybe Elmore Leonard himself is behind that, I do not know, I have not yet read the original stories. But according to all the rules there is to make a western storyline they give us that romance with Raylan and his ex and the only true love of his life, Winona. They give us yet the fulfillment of all that sweet love, a pregnancy, a baby on the way. Then suddenly the climate gets colder.
The whole baggage is there, but is taken back. That bugs me. Actor/producer Timothy Olyphant told in an interview that he and other producers agree that a baby on the set would not be a good thing. So ? Suddenly Winona realizes the combination of a baby and Raylan’s profession impossible. So ? She was married to that guy before and it failed yet she told later that in the second she saw him sitting in her and Gary’s kitchen in the middle of the night she knew what was to come. Yet they fooled around like teenagers unprotected and the surprise cake is ready ! They shoud have known better !
Raylan’s Ol’Lady then dumps him again although there’s so much love in the air. Raylan is left outside and alienated, he has no part of the joy of getting ready for the baby. In the last episode of season three when Arlo had shot the trooper wearing a hat we find Raylan and Winona in the nursery . Raylan has come to see her and yet she asks ‘why did you come?’ Hello ! He just told her that his father very likely meant to kill him, his own son, thr ol’lady and the love of his life asks ‘why did you come ?’. She had constantly told him that she can take the bullshit but she cannot take the silence. Coldly ‘Why did you come ?’
Well this is a man’s man’s man’s world. The producers and writers of Justified are all men. And of course I understand that the dynamics of the show would be quite not the same if they make Raylan a family man. The Lonely Rider must stay lonely, that is the essence of being The Lonely Rider. ‘Justified’ is not a daytime soap or drama, it is a crime/police/whatever and far more better show. And yet this Raylan/Winona thing aint’t logical, at least not according to my( woman’s) logic. But as the last episode of season four unravels we start to understand as Raylan starts too, when ‘Raylan’s shit falls on Winona’s lap’ the goodbye is inevitable.
